National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
Skate Canada observes the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. We join those who mourn, listen, and learn with Indigenous communities.
Whether you dedicate hours educating yourself or simply encouraging your network to join in on Orange Shirt Day, taking some form of action is better than no action at all. Here’s what you can do:
- Dedicate time to reflect
- Attend a community event:
- Learn about residential schools, and survivors (podcast)
- Learn the history of the land you live on, or the closest residential schools
- Know the Truth and Reconciliation Commission recommendations related to Sport and consider how to put them into action at your club.
Let us remember that this is not the end but the start towards healing.
