The following describes the process Skate Canada will undertake in the selection of athletes who will represent Canada at the 2023 Junior Grand Prix and Junior International Competitions.
The purpose of this document is to set out the process and criteria that Skate Canada will undertake in the selection of athletes who will represent Canada at the at Senior Challenger and International events during the 2023-2024 season.
ATHLETE SELECTION PROCEDURE – 2024 WINTER YOUTH OLYMPIC GAMES
The following describes the process Skate Canada will undertake in the selection of athletes who will represent Canada at the 2024 Youth Olympic Winter Games
The 2024 Winter Youth Olympic Games (YOG) is an important competition in which Skate Canada will name the best possible athletes who meet the eligibility standards. Skate Canada recognizes that this competitive event can play a significant role in an athlete’s long-term preparation for Olympic Winter Games. Skate Canada also recognizes that the age eligibility for YOG does not completely align with Skate Canada’s LTAD and NextGen development guidelines.
The Canadian 2024 Olympic Winter Games Figure Skating Team will be named by Skate Canada High Performance Development Committee.
2023-2024 Selection Guidelines for Synchronized Skating Challenger and International Events (Junior & Senior)
The following criteria will be considered when assigning teams to Junior/Senior Challenger and International events for the 2023-2024 season. Achieving any, or all, of the benchmarks noted herein does not guarantee the assignment of a Junior/Senior Challenger or International event. All assignments are determined at the discretion of the Skate Canada High Performance Director
