Les Suprêmes Junior Take the Lead at the ISU World Junior Synchronized Skating Championships

GOTHENBURG, SWEDEN (March 7, 2025) – As the last team to take to the ice on Friday at the ISU World Junior Synchronized Skating Championships, Les Suprêmes (Saint-Léonard, Quebec) needed to achieve a season’s best score to finish at the top of the standings after the short program. They accomplished this mission by earning 73.83 points in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Team Skyliners junior of the U.S.A also achieved a season’s best score of 73.51 before Les Suprêmes took to the ice. The reigning junior world champions from Quebec, rose to the challenge to take the lead ahead of Saturday’s free program.

“Obviously, we want to successfully defend our title, but we try to think about it as little as possible,” shared Gabriella Musi, captain of Les Suprêmes. “We focused on the moment, and that’s what made the difference. We had fun and that’s what counts. It was so loud! It’s amazing to skate in front of such a welcoming crowd.”

Also from the U.S.A, Team Elite is currently in third place with 72.85 points.

The second Canadian team, Nova (Saint-Hubert, Quebec), skated earlier Friday, finishing seventh in the short program with a score of 62.83.

“It was my first time at the World Junior Championships, and it was a great experience!” said Nova’s co-caption, Maïka Beaudry. “We enjoyed every moment, the crowd was incredible. We are also very proud of our short program despite a few small mistakes. We skated from the heart, and we want to do the same thing tomorrow in the free program.”

Both Canadian teams will be back on Saturday for the free program. Les Suprêmes will have the opportunity to skate last while Nova will be the 18th team to take the ice.
