Skate Canada Mourns the Passing of Hall of Famer Anne Schelter

OTTAWA, ON (February 21, 2025) – Skate Canada is deeply saddened to announce the passing of Hall of Fame member Anne Schelter. After a brief battle with cancer, Anne passed away peacefully on the night of February 18, surrounded by compassionate caregivers at Margaret’s Place Hospice in Dundas, Ontario, and the loving presence of her closest friends and family. 

A revered figure in the figure skating community, Anne’s contributions to synchronized skating were unparalleled. As a coach and choreographer, she played an instrumental role in shaping the success of the first ever Canadian team to claim the gold medal at the ISU World Synchronized Skating Championships and advancing the artistry of the sport. Her passion, creativity, and dedication left an enduring impact on generations of skaters. 

Skate Canada extends its deepest condolences to Anne’s family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched. Her legacy will continue to inspire and resonate within the skating community for years to come.
