Ice Dancers Aim to Repeat on the Junior Grand Prix Podium in Baku

Ottawa, ON (Sept. 22, 2025) – With one Junior Grand Prix medal already to their names this season, Summer Homick and Nicholas Buelow will travel to Baku, Azerbaijan this week with their sights set on securing another. The ice dance team will be Canada’s lone entry in the fifth Junior Grand Prix (JGP) event that will take place from September 23-26, 2025.

Earlier this month, Homick and Buelow laid down their best international performance to date, setting new personal best scores in both their rhythm and free dance to earn the bronze medal at the JGP in Varese, Italy. The result marked the Ontario duo’s first-ever JGP medal and a notable improvement from their seventh-place finish in the series last season.

Canada has seen great success on the Junior Grand Prix circuit so far this year, claiming nine medals across four competitions. The top six skaters/teams in each discipline will qualify for the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final, which will be held in Nagoya, Japan in December.
