OTTAWA, ON (Sept. 21, 2026) – The ISU Figure Skating Junior Grand Prix (JGP) continues this week in Batumi, Georgia, from September 24-26, 2026, with six Canadian athletes set to take the ice in the women’s, men’s and ice dance events. 

In the women’s event, Victoria Barakhtina returns to the Junior Grand Prix circuit for her second assignment of the season. The Canadian opened her JGP campaign in Xi’an City, China, placing 10th, and will aim to build on that performance in Batumi. 

James Cha is set to make his Junior Grand Prix debut in the men’s event, following a fourth-place finish at the 2026 NextGen Competition. The junior men’s national bronze medallist will gain valuable experience competing against some of the world’s top junior skaters. 

Canada will be represented by two ice dance teams in Batumi. Leading the charge are Summer Homick and Nicholas Buelow, who captured Canada’s first Junior Grand Prix medal of the season in Xi’an, where they earned bronze. Joining them are Audra Gans and Danil Pak, who will compete in their second Junior Grand Prix as a team. The 2026 NextGen Competition silver medallists made their international debut last week in Türkiye, where they finished in eighth place.
