35 Athletes Named to Skate Canada’s 2026-2027 NextGen Team
OTTAWA, ON (April 22, 2026) – Skate Canada is pleased to announce the 35 athletes that will make up its NextGen Team for the 2026-2027 competition season. The team will be comprised of eleven women, eight men, three pair teams and five ice dance teams. In the coming months, Skate Canada will continue to monitor the progress of additional high-potential athletes to assess their eligibility for selection to the 2026–2027 NextGen Team.
Skate Canada’s NextGen program is designed to guide young figure skaters in their pursuit of excellence. The goal of the program is to build a sustainable pathway to the podium in figure skating by developing world-class athletes who can help elevate Canada’s presence at major international events.
Delivered in partnership with Skate Canada Sections (PSOs), Own the Podium, and Canadian Sport Institutes across the country, the program provides selected skaters and their respective coaches essential support to further their athletic goals, while identifying and supporting the development of the skills necessary to be competitive at a national and international level.
