Canadian Skaters Shine in Salzburg on Day One of ISU Synchronized Skating World Championships

Salzburg, Austria (April 10, 2026) — Two standout teams were on hand to represent Canada at the 2026 ISU Synchronized Skating World Championships in Salzburg, Austria, on Friday, as the first day of competition got underway at the final competition of the 2025-2026 season.

Three-time world champions, Les Suprêmes (Saint-Léonard, Que.) currently sit in first place ahead of tomorrow’s free program after delivering a stunning performance, scoring 83.24 points for their short program.

“Our short program was super good,” said Les Suprêmes co-captain, Olivia Di Giandomenico. “We attacked it, we did just like in practice. We were super calm, but a it was lot of fun and the crowd really carried us through that. We did it for them.”

National silver medallists, Nova (Saint-Hubert, Que.) took third place in the short program, after scoring a season’s best 75.95, despite a stumble that earned them a one-point deduction.

“It was a great skate,” said Nova co-captain, Noémie Beaucage. “We’re happy about it. A little mistake that cost a lot, but we’re generally really happy about how it went and we got all the calls, so there’s nothing more we could have done.”

Team Haydenettes (USA) currently hold second place with 79.30 points.

Both Canadian teams will compete for a spot on the World Championship podium tomorrow starting at 9:30 a.m. ET, with a fourth world title potentially in view for Les Suprêmes.

“Tomorrow’s a new day,” said Les Suprêmes’ Julia Bernardo, also co-captain. “We’ve been working super hard on the free, so we just want to attack it like in practice.”
