12 Athletes to Represent Canada at 2026 ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championships
Ottawa, ON (March 2, 2026) – Twelve of Canada’s most promising junior figure skaters will be competing from March 3-8 at the 2026 ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championships, taking place in Tallinn, Estonia. Athletes will take part in the women’s, men’s, pairs, and ice dance competitions, with the ultimate goal of taking home a medal.
The team will be led by Ava Kemp and Yohnatan Elizarov, who will be competing at this event for the fourth consecutive year. They enter the competition as heavy contenders for the podium, having accumulated two gold medals on the ISU Junior Grand Prix circuit and a bronze medal at the Junior Grand Prix Final. They will be joined by Jazmine Desrochers and Kieran Thrasher, who will look to build on their eighth-place finish at the 2025 World Junior Championships, as well as national junior champions Julia Quattrocchi and Étienne Lacasse, following a successful first season together.
National junior ice dance champions Layla Veillon and Alexander Brandys will also have their sights set on the podium after earning a gold and a silver medal on the ISU Junior Grand Prix circuit. They will be joined by national silver medallists Summer Homick and Nicholas Buelow, who finished third at two ISU Junior Grand Prix events this season.
In the men’s event, 2025 junior national champion David Bondar will replace Grayson Long who has withdrawn due to an injury. Bondar enters the competition in strong form, having finished 4th at the Cranberry Cup International and 5th in the senior men’s category of the 2025-2026 Skate Canada Challenge.
Capping off the team will be Megan Woodley, who will be the sole Canadian competitor in the women’s event after a fourth-place finish in the senior field at the 2026 Canadian National Skating Championships.
