Skate Canada Mourns the Passing of Hall of Famer Gerrie Fenton Crispo
Ottawa, ON (Feb.17, 2026) – Skate Canada is deeply saddened to announce the passing of Hall of Fame member Geraldine Fenton Crispo.
Inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1996, Gerrie was a distinguished ice dancer alongside partner William McLachlan. The duo captured three Canadian titles and two North American dance championships and stood on the world podium three times, earning silver medals at the 1957 and 1958 World Championships, followed by bronze in 1959.
Following her competitive career, Gerrie dedicated herself to coaching at the Toronto Cricket Skating and Curling Club, where she helped guide teams to the World Championships, including Canadian ice dance champions Paulette Doan and Ken Ormsby. Through her leadership and passion for excellence, she shaped the development of Canadian ice dance as we know it today.
Skate Canada extends its deepest condolences to Gerrie’s family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy as an athlete, mentor, and pioneer will continue to inspire the skating community for generations.
