Golden Day for Canada at Synchronized Skating Events in Europe
Eindhoven, Netherlands (January 25, 2026) – Canadian junior and senior synchronized skating teams earned four medals, including two gold, at two International Skating Union (ISU) Challenger Series competitions in Europe over the weekend.
At the Lumière Cup in Eindhoven, three-time world champions Les Suprêmes (Saint-Léonard, Que.) won gold in the senior event, placing first in both the short and the free programs with a total score of 228.07, almost eight points ahead of Finland’s Team Lumineers. Team Skyliners of the United States completed the podium.
“I think we’re really happy with both of our skates. We had clean skates and had improvements from Nationals,” said Julia Bernardo, co-captain of Les Suprêmes. “But, we also have things that we want to improve and fix before our next Challenger. So, I think it’s a good mix of positives.”
With two strong skates, Les Suprêmes Junior (Saint-Léonard, Que.) claimed bronze in Eindhoven with a total score of 188.64. Teams Helsinki Fintastic Junior and Valley Bay Synchro Junior, both from Finland, won the gold and silver medals.
“We have been really working hard on making sure our elements are more consistent and showing them on the ice in competition under pressure, so we’re really proud of that,” said Aliana Dell’Orefice, Les Suprêmes Junior co-captain.
Meanwhile, at the Mozart Cup in Salzburg, Austria, Canadian teams skated to the top spots in the junior event. Gold Ice Junior (Brampton, Ont.) won gold with a total score of 174.64, while Prima Junior (Laval, Que.) finished second with 173.17. Finland’s Team Reflections Junior won bronze.
The Challenger Series is designed to give skaters adequate opportunities to compete at the international level and to earn World Standing Points. For full competition schedules, entries and results for Challenger Series events, please click here.
