Gabrielle Daleman Within Striking Distance of the Podium at ISU Four Continents Championships
BEIJING, CHINA (January 22, 2026) – Canadians earned strong results on day one of the 2026 ISU Four Continents Championships in Beijing, China.
After winning silver at the 2026 Canadian National Championships earlier this month, two-time Olympian Gabrielle Daleman (Newmarket, Ont.) continued her comeback to competitive skating receiving 67.69 points in the women’s short program and sits in fourth place, less than half a point from third, heading into Friday’s free program. Japanese skaters claimed the top three positions.
Fée Ann Landry (Gatineau, Que.) received 57.92 and is currently sitting in 12th place, while Sara-Maude Dupuis (Montreal, Que.) is in 13th with a score of 56.59.
In the rhythm dance, two-time national bronze medallists Alicia Fabbri (Terrebonne, Que.) and Paul Ayer (Brossard, Que.) had Canada’s best result sitting in fourth place with 73.20, just one point shy of third. American ice dance teams are in the top three spots.
Lily Hensen (London, Ont.) and Nathan Lickers (Six Nation Territories of the Grand River, Ont.) scored 62.96 and are in ninth place, while Jamie Fournier (Montreal, Que.) and Everest Zhu (Waterloo, Ont.) received 43.73 and are in 15th.
In the pairs short program, 2026 Canadian Nationals bronze medallists Kelly Ann Laurin (St-Jérôme, Que.) and Loucas Éthier (St-Alphonse-de-Granby, Que.) placed fifth with a score of 65.68.
“We are really happy about the performance today. Of course, with the score, it’s a new season’s best for us, so it was really fun,” said Laurin. “We had a good Nationals, especially in the free, but our short didn’t go as planned, so we wanted a redemption skate,” added Éthier. “We were aiming for the 65 internationally, so overall, we are really satisfied.”
Reigning Olympic pairs champions Sui Wenjing and Han Cong of China are in the lead with 76.02. In their senior ISU Championship debut, two-time Junior Grand Prix Final medallists Ava Kemp (Winnipeg, Man.) and Yohnatan Elizarov (Winnipeg, Man.) are in 10th with 49.09.
The action will resume on Friday with the women’s free program and the free dance. The complete results for the ISU Four Continents Championships are available here.
