Stellato-Dudek and Deschamps Finish Sixth at ISU Grand Prix Final
NAGOYA, JAPAN (Dec. 5, 2025) – Deanna Stellato-Dudek (Chicago, USA) and Maxime Deschamps (Vaudreuil-Dorion, QC) finished sixth in the senior pairs competition at the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final on Friday in Nagoya, Japan.
The Canadians, two-time Grand Prix medallists this season, maintained their short program ranking from the day before. This time, they received a score of 123.29 for their free skate and finished the competition with 194.36 points.
“We don’t know what happened, we felt ready and everything. We’re going to take a week off to recover. We’ve competed in four events in nine weeks, during which time we’ve also both been sick. We just need to rest and start fresh so we can tackle the rest of the season,” said Deschamps.
Japan’s Riku Miura and Ryuichi Kihara were crowned champions in front of their fans with a total score of 225.21. They finished ahead of Italy’s Sara Conti and Niccolo Macii, who finished with 223.28. Germany’s Minerva Fabienne Hase and Nikita Volodin made a remarkable comeback, moving up from fifth to third place with a total score of 221.25.
In junior ice dance, Layla Veillon (London, ON) and Alexander Brandys (London, ON) started the competition with a sixth-place finish in the rhythm dance. Competing in their first Junior Grand Prix Final, they earned 52.70 points. Americans Hana Maria Aboian and Daniil Veselukhin lead with 66.77 points, followed by Ukrainians Iryna Pidgaina and Artem Koval (63.43). France’s Ambre Perrier Gianesini and Samuel Blanc Klaperman are in third place (62.35).
“It’s great to be here, we’re very proud of ourselves. We worked hard to qualify. Our goal was to deliver two good programs, but sometimes things don’t go as well and you have to find a way to bounce back. We’re going to look ahead, focus on the future and not the past,” shared Veillon.
The junior team will perform their free dance on Saturday in Nagoya, as will senior ice dancers Piper Gilles (Toronto, ON) and Paul Poirier (Unionville, ON). Saturday will also see the conclusion of the junior pairs event which will feature three Canadian teams: Ava Kemp (Winnipeg, MN) and Yohnatan Elizarov (Winnipeg, MN), Jazmine Desrochers (Mississauga, ON) and Kieran Thrasher (Oakville, ON) and Julia Quattrocchi (Laval, QC) and Étienne Lacasse (Sainte-Thérèse, QC).
