12 Canadian Athletes Qualify for the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final

OTTAWA, ONT. (November 25, 2025) – The 2025 Grand Prix season draws to a close next week in Nagoya, Japan, where 12 Canadian figure skaters will compete among the world’s top athletes in the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final. Taking place from December 4-7, 2025, Canada will be represented by one pair team and one ice dance team in the senior event and three pair teams and one ice dance team in the junior event.

In the senior pair event, Canadian champions Deanna Stellato-Dudek and Maxime Deschamps enter the competition with a gold and silver medal to their names from the Grand Prix circuit. The 2024 World Champions will be eager to make their mark in Nagoya after missing the Grand Prix Final last season due to illness.

This competition will mark senior ice dance duo Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier’s sixth appearance at the Grand Prix Final. The World silver medallists won a historic sixth consecutive gold medal at Skate Canada International and secured the silver medal at Finlandia Trophy this season. They will look to improve upon their fifth-place finish at the same event last year.

Canada will be well-represented in the junior event after a standout season that marked its highest Junior Grand Prix medal count in the last two decades. Headlining the junior delegation will be pair team Ava Kemp and Yohnatan Elizarov, reigning Canadian junior champions who earned back-to-back gold medals on the Junior Grand Prix circuit.

The junior pair event will also see two-time Junior Grand Prix Final bronze medallists Jazmine Desrochers and Kieran Thrasher, who enter the competition with two second place finishes in the series. They will be joined by Julia Quattrocchi and Étienne Lacasse, who teamed up this season and went on to earn bronze at the Junior Grand Prix in Ankara.

National junior bronze medallists Layla Veillon and Alexander Brandys will make their Grand Prix Final debut in Nagoya. The ice dance team captured gold and silver medals from the Junior Grand Prix stops in Riga and Gdansk.

The 2025 Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final will be livestreamed for Canadian fans on CBC Sports. For full entry lists, schedule, and results, please visit the ISU website.
