Grayson Long Finishes Fifth at Last ISU Junior Grand Prix

ABU DHABI, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES (Oct. 11, 2025) – Grayson Long (North York, Ont.) finished among the top five skaters in the men’s event at the seventh and last stop of the ISU Junior Grand Prix circuit in Abu Dhabi, capital of the United Arab Emirates.

Long finished fifth with a total score of 205.77. The 17-year-old skater finished strong on Saturday, earning 135.95 points for his free skate, the third-best performance of the day. American Lucius Kazanecki (219.63) won the gold medal after moving up three ranks in the standings at the end of the free skate. Belgium’s Denis Krouglov (218.19) and Japan’s Sena Takahashi (216.72) completed the podium.

“It didn’t go exactly as I had hoped. I made a few mistakes in the short and free programs that can be attributed to a lack of concentration. There was also the pressure of being in the running for a Grand Prix Final qualification spot for the first time. I didn’t skate the way I wanted to, but I enjoyed the experience and was happy to be here,” said Long, who won silver at the first ISU Junior Grand Prix of the season in Latvia and at the 2025 Cranberry Cup International in the United States.

Reese Rose (Gananoque, Ont.) made her debut on the ISU Junior Grand Prix circuit after placing fifth in the junior competition at the 2025 Cranberry Cup International this August. The 16-year-old athlete finished 21st in the women’s event with a score of 128.35. Japan’s Mao Shimada won gold (201.17) ahead of Australia’s Hana Bath (192.72) and Israel’s Sophia Shifrin (181.90).

In ice dance, Olympia Kalaganis (Blainville, QC) and Émile Deveau (Montreal, QC) took part in their very first international competition. With a score of 70.97 in the free dance, they moved up one spot in the rankings to finish 10th with 112.84 points. Hana Maria Aboian and Daniil Veselukhin of the United States won gold with 167.11 points. France’s Dania Mouaden and Theo Bigot (157.68) finished second, followed by Italy’s Zoe Bianchi and Daniel Basile (146.42).
