Top Women’s Moments from the 2024-2025 Season

Canadian women skaters delivered another strong season, breaking national records and etching their spot onto the international ranks. Here’s a look at some of the highlights from the 2024-2025 season.

On the international stage, Ontario’s Katherine Medland-Spence delivered a historic performance at the Warsaw Cup, capturing gold and becoming the first Canadian woman in six years to win an international title.

Alberta’s Lia Cho made a stunning debut at the junior level this season. At the 2024–2025 Skate Canada Challenge, she captured gold and set a new Canadian junior women’s record with a score of 186.50—an astonishing 40-point lead over her closest competitor. Later in the season at Nationals, Cho broke her own record, earning 188.79 points to take the junior women’s national title.

Canadian senior women kicked off 2025 with a bang at the Canadian National Figure Skating Championships with Sara-Maude Dupuis from Quebec and Medland-Spence securing their first national medals, earning silver and bronze respectively. Meanwhile, Ontario’s Madeline Schizas reclaimed her national title and set a new senior women’s record in the process with a score of 203.87.

Nationals also welcomed Skate Canada’s first 2025 Hall of Fame inductees: the iconic athlete-coach duo, Joannie Rochette and Manon Perron. The emotional ceremony celebrated their enduring legacy, highlighting their incredible contributions to Canadian figure skating.

The season wrapped up at the 2025 World Figure Skating Championships where Schizas continued her impressive season, earning a career-best 11th place finish and securing a women’s quota spot for Team Canada at the 2026 Milano-Cortina Winter Olympic Games.
