A Small but Mighty Canadian Contingent to Compete at Grand Prix de France

OTTAWA, ON (November 1, 2022) – With the Senior Grand Prix season in full swing, Canadian athletes now head to Angers, France for the third stop on the ISU Grand Prix circuit. A total of seven athletes will be representing the maple leaf in the men’s, pair and ice dance competitions from November 4-6, 2022 at the Grand Prix de France.

First-year senior Wesley Chiu will be competing at his second senior ISU Grand Prix after placing tenth at the 2022 U.S. International Figure Skating Classic and sixth at Skate America earlier this season.

The experienced team of Deanna Stellato Dudek and Maxime Deschamps, whose spectacular program earned them a gold medal at the 2022 Nebelhorn Trophy, will be aiming for their third medal in the pair competition after claiming silver at Skate America a few weeks ago.

In ice dance, Olympians Laurence Fournier Beaudry and Nikolaj Soerensen will be competing at their first ISU Grand Prix of this season after winning gold at the Finlandia Trophy in early October. They will be joined by new National Team members Molly Lanaghan and Dmitre Razgulajevs, who finished just off the podium at the 2022 Nebelhorn Trophy.

Competition starts on Friday, November 4 with every discipline performing their short program/rhythm dance. All medals will be awarded on Saturday, November 5, as every discipline will perform their free program/free dance. The event concludes on Sunday with the exhibition gala.
