2023 ICE SUMMIT

Join us online for the 2023 Ice Summit!

It has been an exciting year for Skate Canada and we invite you to Connect With Us to celebrate our success and take this opportunity to learn, share and move our association forward. We have a great lineup of presenters and workshops planned for you at this year’s Ice Summit and we look forward to seeing you online!

President’s Welcome Message

On behalf of the entire Skate Canada Team, we are pleased to announce that the 2023 Skate Canada Ice Summit will take place virtually from May 25 – 28, 2023.

I would like to personally invite all skating club executives, administrators, coaches, officials, and volunteers to take this opportunity to reconnect and re-engage with their peers and to share our common experiences. Join us for a variety of virtual workshops built around this year’s theme, ‘’Connect With Us”.

The virtual summit will give participants a chance to learn new and emerging topics within our sport and to connect with various colleagues from across the country all within the comfort of their home.

As always, we count on you to contribute to the organization’s governance by participating in the Annual General Meeting. As always, a highlight of this exciting weekend will be the virtual 2023 Skate Canada Awards Celebration on Saturday evening!

I look forward to connecting with many of you online throughout the event.

Sincerely,

Karen Butcher

Keynote Speaker

Cheryl Pounder

Two-time Olympic Gold Medallist

It’s always about the journey. That’s the message women’s hockey champion Cheryl Pounder seeks to instill in every audience she speaks to.  Change is inevitable. We must learn to embrace change and get outside our comfort zone on the path to excellence. Each day provides a unique challenge and opportunity to grow. Are we willing to learn from both our failures and successes? Cheryl believes that true achievement is found in the ‘details’ on the way to winning Gold.  It is the commitment, vision, leadership, teamwork and dedication that we must exhibit every day.  We must ‘Grow for Gold’!

Cheryl played on six of Canada’s World Championship Hockey teams where she was named an All-Star Defenseman in 2005.  Cheryl was also voted the top defenseman at the 2002, 2004, 2005 (MVP) and 2007 Canadian Women’s Hockey National Championships.  Her greatest career accomplishments are her two Olympic gold medals from the Salt Lake City and Torino Olympic Games.

Currently, Cheryl is working for TSN/CBC as a hockey analyst.  Her most recent work includes the 2018 Olympic Winter Games and 2019 World Championships.
