Coquitlam Skating Club Director of Operations

The Coquitlam Skating Club is one of the largest skating clubs in the metro Vancouver area. We are a community based skating club that offers a whole range of Skate Canada programming from CanSkate and Power Skating through to adult and elite level figure skating. The club has produced many high level national and international skaters in its almost 60 year history and has over 400 members. We have the privilege of operating out of the modern Poirier Recreation Complex in central Coquitlam where we have access to 3 skating rinks and several different facilities to offer our off ice programs.

We are currently looking for a Director of Operations to oversee the running of the club. The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • NCCP National level coaching certification
  • Several years’ experience running a figure skating club
  • A strong working knowledge of Uplifter and strong computer/web skills
  • A strong work ethic, strong interpersonal skills, the ability to manage an experienced and dedicated staff of full time coaches, and the ability to work well and be accountable to a volunteer board of directors.
  • The ability to work flexible hours that equate to roughly 40 hours per week. Programs run 8 to 10 hours a day Monday to Friday and 4 to 6 hours on Saturday.
  • Comfortable working with a wide range of athletes, from those new to skating to elite level athletes.

Compensation will be consist of a base salary and be commensurate with experience but will be in the range of $60 to $75 000 per year with the ability to earn more through private instruction. Job description:

The Kimberley Skating Club is looking for a qualified and experienced Head Coach for the 2020/2021 skating season. Our Club offers approximately 14 hours of ice per week from September to early April. The Kimberley Skating Club serves approximately 50-60 skaters through a variety of programs including Off Ice classes, PreCanskate, CanSkate, PreStar, and Star levels. Skaters have the opportunity to attend 3 or more competitions each year, as well as test days. Our club also presents a spectacular year end Ice Show that includes all skaters and a host of amazing parent volunteers. We are seeking an experienced, organized, compassionate, highly motivated professional with a passion for skating who demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work with a wide age range of skaters. The successful candidate will also have successful experience working with parents, fellow coaches and a supportive club executive.

The interested Candidate should be a registered Skate Canada Coach. Available to teach strong fundamentals to beginning and developing skaters as well as learn to skate to our CanSkaters. The Candidate should be familiar with the new Star 1 – 5 test program, or willing to learn and implement in their teaching with our club programs.

Skills and attributes required are:

– NCCP Level 1 or higher
– CanSkate Certified & STARSkate Certified
– In Good Standing
– Positive Role Model/Team player
– Excellent communication skills
– Able to teach all levels of dance and skills up to Gold level
– Offer group and private lessons.

The Nelson Skating Club is committed to providing high quality programming in Nelson BC. The Club is looking to hire a Primary StarSkate Certified Coach. Club programming ranges from CanSkate to StarSkate and Adult Learn to Skate with additional programming possible. The Drumheller Skating Club is looking for a Canskate coach for the 2020-2021 season.  CanSkate runs Wednesday’s starting beginning of October till Mid-March.  We end our season with a year-end Carnival.

Hinton Figure Skating Club

Accepting Applications for Coaches for the 2020-2021 Season

The Hinton Figure Skating Club is seeking new Coaches. Our club provides Pre- Canskate, Canskate and STARskate programs. With about 80 members, our club strives to provide a fun and caring environment for our members to learn and improve their skating skills.

The successful candidates will:

  • Be or be willing to become Canskate and/ or primary STARskate certified.
  • Have a Police Clearance check, including vulnerable sector check.
  • Hold or be willing to obtain a First Aid Certificate
  • Have completed or be willing to complete the Making Ethical Decisions online module.

Time commitment:

Programs are offered Mid-September to Mid-March. Weekend commitment is dependent on Test Days and Competition Days. Currently we are seeking coaches willing to commit between 1-2 days a week of coaching, with availability between 3:30pm-6:30pm. There is some flexibility on commitment level.

We skate Mondays from 3:45 to 8:30 and Fridays from 3:45 to 6:30, however, we may be able to accommodate flexible commitment levels on a case-by-case basis.

Killarney Figure Skating Club is currently looking for a dedicated, enthusiastic individual to fill a coaching position for our Starskate program.

Our club in located in Killarney Manitoba, a small community in southwest Manitoba and currently has around 70 members.

Job description, but not limited to

  • Instruct athletes in the Starskate program
  • Assess star levels
  • Help athletes to prepare for competitive events, tests, and seminars.
  • choreograph routines for skaters along with end of year ice show
  • Follow Skate Canada code of ethics

Time Requirements

  • Season runs from late Sept. to Mid March

MacTier Skating Club is looking to hire an interim coach for 4-6 weeks beginning Wed Sept 9th. Our small club has a yearly average of 25 skaters, in these programs; CanSkate, PowerSkate and StarSkate. Our club offers lessons on Wednesday’s and Friday’s, from 3:30-8 pm at MacTier memorial arena, located at 9 Haig Street, MacTier, Ontario.

The Schreiber – Terrace Bay FSC is currently seeking a club coach for the 2020-21 season.  Our Club is young and energetic and looking forward to growing with a new coach.

Candidates must be a CanSkate Certified coach or higher and registered in good standing with Skate Canada.  If possible, candidates should be StarSkate Certified or working towards certification to support our StarSkate group. We have a large number of registered skaters in our CanSkate program, in addition to a small but dedicated and highly talented group of StarSkaters.
