The Smithers Figure Skating Club (SFSC) is a non-proft, volunteer-run sports club. We ofer several programs for all ages and levels of skating. The club is currently seeking a Head Coach for the 2022 season and beyond. This position is responsible for overseeing the operations of all Skating Club

The Northern BC Centre for Skating is accepting applications for a specialized coach to join their dynamic coaching team. All members of the coaching team are expected to work together to achieve technical and athlete advancement targets as established by the Director of Skating. The successful candidate will be entrusted with significant responsibility to drive the operational excellence that members have come to expect from all NBCCS programs. The position is divided into several parts as outlined below.


The Off-Ice Coach is a critical role to the ongoing success of our Centre as the professional will interact with athletes, parents, coaching staff and the executive committee from time to time. Presently sessions are being offered virtually.
Planning, execution and implementation of the off-ice training curriculum including: 

  • Junior Academy Off-Ice
  • Junior/Intermediate Off-Ice
  • Intermediate/Senior Off-Ice

Content delivery shall be age and level specific and adherence to the Long Term Athlete Development Model shall be of critical importance. Curriculum must include:

  • Flexibility, range of motion for injury prevention and increased suppleness to support optimal on-ice gains
  • Strength focusing on core stability and balance as key ingredients for all facets of skill acquisition
  • Plyometric tasks must be included in all classes
  • Jump technique segments may be added based on coach aptitude

Assist coaches with private, semi-private and group lessons in accordance with team coaching principles established in the Centre Vision, Mission and Philosophy. Lessons outlined will be billed privately by the successful candidate. Direction for lesson content will be established by the Director of Skating and will be provided on an as needed basis. The coach will be required to submit a Coach Specialization Survey which will further establish specific areas of focus. The coach will also fill in for absent coaches as required. 


Planning, execution and implementation of the Elementary CanSkate Program including: 

  • daytime Elementary CanSkate (pending PHO approval)
  • afternoon CanSkate (3 sessions per week)

capacity building, specifically as relates to acquiring new schools into the program

The suitable candidate must have advanced networking and communication skills. To support our mission of representing the needs of all Clubs within our region, the candidate must be willing to travel to accommodate requests.

Regional Coach Certification is a minimum requirement for this position. Initiative in advancing professional development shall be considered an asset to candidate selection. The coach must demonstrate a willingness to further their certification at their own motivation. Additionally the coach should exemplify a willingness to observe and mentor sessions under the Director of Skating and Director by attending off-ice sessions hosted by the Director on a volunteer basis.

Arctic Edge Skating Club Coach – Whitehorse, Yukon
Arctic Edge Skating Club in Whitehorse, Yukon is currently accepting applications for a professional skating coach.  We are seeking enthusiastic and motivated individuals who have a desire to be part of a progressive and growing skating community. Prince George FSC – Figure Skating Coach

The Prince George Figure Skating Club (PGFSC) is a progressive club located in Prince George BC and is looking to welcome a positive enthusiastic new member with a passion for coaching to our coaching team in a permanent full-time position as soon as possible. The Golden Figure Skating Club is looking for a qualified and experienced Coach for the 2021/2022 skating season. Golden Figure Skating Club offers approximately 13-15 hrs of ice per week from September to mid March. Our club consists of approximately 50-60 skaters and offers programs from Off Ice classes, PreCanskate, CanSkate, PreStar, Star and Competitive skaters. Skaters attend 2-3 competitions per year, as well as test days and a year end ICE Show production. We are seeking an experienced, organized, enthusiastic, highly motivated professional with a passion for skating who demonstrates strong interpersonal skills with children, parents, fellow coaches and the club executive.

The interested Candidate should be a registered Skate Canada Coach at the primary level or higher.  Available to teach strong fundamentals to beginning and developing skaters as well as learn to skate to our CanSkaters.  The Candidate should be familiar with the new Star 1 – 5 test program, or willing to learn and implement in their teaching with our club programs.

Located in Ottawa West and skating at the John G. Mlacak Community Centre arena we offer STARSkate sessions 7 days a week from September to April.  During the summer months we join a sister club and offer STARSkate sessions 5 days a week on a local ice pad.

MKSC was established in 1974 and we normally register between 600 – 650 skaters with 80 – 90 of them being STARSkaters.

The successful candidate will have a willingness to work with the other coaches. The Coach is expected to provide a safe, encouraging, and positive training environment for all skaters, parents, coaches, officials, and volunteers.  The Coach will be available to coach CanSkate through to Gold.

  • a Coach with a proven track record of success.

Sherwood Parkdale Skating Club

Sherwood Parkdale Skating Club is looking to add two-three enthusiastic Canskate Coaches and one CanPowerSkate Coach to our Coaching Team for the 2021-2022 Season. Future candidates taking the NCCP Canskate Course in the summer of 2021 may apply conditionally and will be considered based on requirements met by start of season. The Wabush Figure Skating Club (WFSC) is a non-profit, volunteer-run sports club. We offer several programs for all ages and levels of skating. We are located in Wabush, Labrador and we are seeking a qualified Regional Skate Canada Coach to assume the role of Club Coach for the 2021 – 2022 skating season. Our club is located in Wabush, NL Canada, A beautiful northern mining town near the Quebec border. Our club offers a variety of Skate Canada programs and our season typically begins October and runs until May with 25 hours Minimum of coaching available each week. This will include on and off ice training. Our club currently has approximately 80 skaters from PRE-CAN to STAR-SKATE level. We will provide travel fee to Wabush at the beginning of the season and a return fee after our Skating season has ended. We will provide a furnished apartment with heat and lights included. Our coach must be able to teach strong fundamentals to beginning and developing skaters as well as learn to skate to our CanSkaters.

Job description is, but not limited to:

* Instruct athletes in PRECAN, CANSKATE and STARSKATE.
* Assess STAR Levels
* Motivate, prepare and accompany athletes for competitive events, tests and seminars.
* Analyze and evaluate athletes’ performances
