Prince George FSC – Figure Skating Coach

The Prince George Figure Skating Club (PGFSC) is a progressive club located in Prince George BC and is looking to welcome a positive enthusiastic new member with a passion for coaching to our coaching team in a permanent full-time position as soon as possible. The successful candidate must have some competitive experience either coaching and/or competing, be supportive of team coaching and be prepared to be involved in all aspects of club activities, including off-ice classes, competitions and seminars in BC.

We are a large Club with over 360 members and offer programming for PreCanSkate, CanSkate, CanPower, Adult Skate, and Figure Skating – Junior Academy, STARSkate and Competitive programs. PGFSC offers year-round programming including reduced ice during summers.  Work locations vary between 3 rink facilities in Prince George (Kin Centre Arenas, Rolling Mix Concrete Arena, Elksentre Arena).

Job Description:

  • Plan, develop and implement training and practice sessions
  • Develop, plan and co-ordinate competitive schedules and programs
  • Motivate and prepare athletes or teams for competitive events or games
  • Analyze and evaluate athletes’ or team’s performance and modify training programs
  • Observe and evaluate prospective athletes’ skills and performance
  • Carry out management or administrative duties


  • Must be a Skate Canada Coach NCCP Level 1 /Primary StarSkate certified or higher (ability to coach skills and ice dance an asset)
  • minimum three years’ experience as a Figure Skating Coach required;
  • Ability to coach CanPower / Power Skating programs;
  • Completion of high school required. A degree or certificate in physical education preferred;
  • Competitive coaching and/or competitive training;
  • Certified in the new Star 1-5 Testing system;
  • Completed new CanSkate Training and knowledge of LTAD;
  • Hold or be willing to obtain First Aid Certificate;
  • Making Ethical Decisions;
  • Have a Police Clearance check, including vulnerable sector check;
  • Dance, flexibility, strength training or conditioning an asset.

  • Attention to detail, Hand-eye co-ordination, Combination of sitting, standing, walking, standing for extended periods, physically demanding;
  • Organized, Initiative, Flexibility, Dependability, Team player, Values and ethics, Excellent oral communication, Reliability;
  • Interested in working closely with the club executive and director of skating to plan and continue club growth;

Flexibility on schedule is required. Weekly hours start at 3:45 PM, on weekends the schedule starts at 12:00 PM. Summer hours start around 3:30 PM and run 2 hours plus per shift depending on ice guaranteed from the City of Prince George. Schedule will vary according to the club’s needs and depending on the time of the year. 30 to 35 hours of work per week are guaranteed.  Salary of $25 to $27 per hour (to be negotiated).

The Golden Figure Skating Club is looking for a qualified and experienced Coach for the 2021/2022 skating season. Golden Figure Skating Club offers approximately 13-15 hrs of ice per week from September to mid March. Our club consists of approximately 50-60 skaters and offers programs from Off Ice classes, PreCanskate, CanSkate, PreStar, Star and Competitive skaters. Skaters attend 2-3 competitions per year, as well as test days and a year end ICE Show production. We are seeking an experienced, organized, enthusiastic, highly motivated professional with a passion for skating who demonstrates strong interpersonal skills with children, parents, fellow coaches and the club executive.

The interested Candidate should be a registered Skate Canada Coach at the primary level or higher.  Available to teach strong fundamentals to beginning and developing skaters as well as learn to skate to our CanSkaters.  The Candidate should be familiar with the new Star 1 – 5 test program, or willing to learn and implement in their teaching with our club programs.

Skills and attributes required are:
– NCCP Level 1 or higher
– CanSkate Certified & Primary STARSkate Certified
– In Good Standing
– Able to teach all levels of dance and skills up to Gold level
– Offer group and private lessons, Morning ice 3-4X per week & 4-5 afternoons till 5 or 7pm
– Demonstrated ability to work well with all parents, students, board and other coaches
– Positive Role Model/Team player
– Excellent communication skills

Located in the beautiful East Kootenays, the Cranbrook Skating Club is looking for a positive, energetic coach who is willing to work as a team to support our growing club! Our programs include KinderSkate, Canskate, RisingStars, Junior and Senior Starskate as well as off ice training.

Some modifications at this time due to the currentCovid-19 Pandemic.


-ability to work in a team coaching environment
-strong communication skills with board members and other club coaches
-able to work as a leader
-attend board meetings monthly
-must be in good standing with Skate Canada
-minimum of Level 1 with preference given to Level 2 certified or higher
-preference given to candidates with full availability
-must be available for 3:30pm start times
-CANPOWER certification is an asset
-availability for Summer coaching is an asset
-able to attend four competitions and willingness to attend seminars assist with Carnival planning and choreography
