The Beaver Valley Skating Club in Fruitvale, BC have some coaching opportunities for the 2020/21 season. They are seeking a Head Coach and/or Team Coach and CANSkate Coach. The season runs from September-May. The Team Coach position and Head Coach position includes both on ice and off ice private and group coaching opportunities in all figure skating disciplines.  Currently, the Club is a healthy, active skating club with over 95 skaters and 15+ hours of group and private ice per week.  Fruitvale is a small community nestled in the Kootenay’s and close to Rossland’s famous Red Mountain for skiing, mountain biking and hiking.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum NCCP Level 1 certified or CANSkate (trained).
  • Canpower Certified an asset.
  • The Candidate should be familiar with the new Star 1 – 5 test program
  • 5-10 years previous Coaching experience an asset (unless CANSkate Coach only).
  • Active member of Skate Canada and in good standing.

The Golden Figure Skating Club is looking for a qualified and experienced Coach for the 2020/2021 skating season. Golden Figure Skating Club offers approximately 13-15 hrs of ice per week from September to mid March. Our club consists of approximately 50-60 skaters and offers programs from Off Ice classes, PreCanskate, CanSkate, PreStar, Star and Competitive skaters. Skaters attend 2-3 competitions per year, as well as test days and a year end ICE Show production. We are seeking an experienced, organized, enthusiastic, highly motivated professional with a passion for skating who demonstrates strong interpersonal skills with children, parents, fellow coaches and the club executive.

The interested Candidate should be a registered Skate Canada Coach at the primary level or higher. Available to teach strong fundamentals to beginning and developing skaters as well as learn to skate to our CanSkaters. The Candidate should be familiar with the new Star 1 – 5 test program, or willing to learn and implement in their teaching with our club programs.

Skills and attributes required are:

  • NCCP Level 1 or higher
  • CanSkate Certified & Primary STARSkate Certified
  • In Good Standing
  • Able to teach all levels of dance and skills up to Gold level
  • Offer group and private lessons, Morning ice 3-4X per week & 4-5 afternoons till 5 or 7pm

Alberta-NWT/Nunavut

The Alix Figure Skating Club is looking for a qualified coach for the 2020/2021 skating season. The Alix Figure Skating Club offers 7 hours of ice time per week from mid-October to mid-March. Our club consists of approximately 20-25 skaters. Skaters attend competitions, and test days throughout the year followed by a year-end carnival.

We are seeking an organized, enthusiastic person who can effectively communicate with skaters ages 3-15, program assistants, parents and the club executive. This coach will be required to teach CanSkate, JumpStart and StarSkate. Currently, the club is very group instruction driven; the ability to multitask will be required. Coach must be familiar with all disciplines of dance, skating skills, freeskate, and interpretative.

Requirements for the successful candidate are:

  • Able to provide a copy of your coaching dashboard, which includes:
  • NCCP Level 1/ Regional Coach trained or higher
  • Be a Skate Canada registered coach in good standing

The Blackie Skating Club is currently seeking a qualified coach for the 2020-2021 season.

Blackie Skating Club is located half hour south of Calgary.

This club is a Learn to Skate, Can Skate and very small (1-3 skater) Star Level 1 club.  There is however potential for power skating. This is a laid back, fun, recreational, rural club.

Lessons are help Friday’s afterschool and the season runs from October – mid December and again in January – early March.

Killarney Figure Skating Club is currently looking for a dedicated, enthusiastic individual to fill a coaching position for our Starskate program.

Our club in located in Killarney Manitoba, a small community in southwest Manitoba and currently has around 70 members.

Job description, but not limited to

  • Instruct athletes in the Starskate program
  • Assess star levels
  • Help athletes to prepare for competitive events, tests, and seminars.
  • choreograph routines for skaters along with end of year ice show
  • Follow Skate Canada code of ethics

Time Requirements

  • Season runs from late Sept. to Mid March

The Burlington Skating Centre is looking for an experienced Professional Dance Coach to join our coaching team starting April 2020. We are looking for an enthusiastic team player who has excellent team-building and interpersonal skills to interact with skaters, parents, fellow coaches and the Board of Directors.

The Burlington Skating Centre has a membership of over 1000 skaters and has a dedicated rink at the Appleby Ice Centre in Burlington, ON. We provide programming year round from Learn to Skate to Competitive Skate. The successful candidate would be required to teach / partner dances up to the Gold level. Opportunities to coach other disciplines may be available dependent on experience and qualifications.

Qualifications

  1. Registered: To be a Registered Skate Canada Professional Coach, full payment is required of all registration fees and insurance premiums as determined annually by Skate Canada.
  2. In Good Standing: To be a Registered Skate Canada Professional Coach in Good Standing, the following is required:
    • Must hold a valid first aid certificate
    • Screening must be done through the company approved by Skate Canada. Following review of the results of this screening, the status must show as “Clear” in the Skate Canada profile of the coach.
    • NCCP certified coaches must maintain a renewed NCCP certification status as per the Coaching Association of Canada’s (CAC) Maintenance of Certification Policy
    • Have agreed to the Skate Canada Code of Ethics and completed Respect in Sport.
    • A coach must be re-certified in this training every 3 years
    • Minimum NCCP level require – Regional Coach InTraining or higher
    • Minimum of 3 years of coaching experience
    • Able to coach and partner up to and including gold tests

CanSkate Coaches for 2019/2020 – Port Credit Skating Club, Mississauga

The Port Credit Skating Club is seeking a CanSkate Coach to teach programs in Learn to Skate including CanSkate and our Introduction to Development program. Our program is run out of the Port Credit Arena in Mississauga, Ontario.

For the 2019/2020 season, we are looking to hire a CanSkate certified coach who is fun, outgoing, and innovative, with a love of teaching.  The successful Coach should be comfortable working closely and communicating directly with skaters, parents and board members. The skating season runs from September to mid-December and January to late April. Classes are held Tues, Thurs, and Fri evenings as well as on Sunday mornings.

Prince Edward Island

Sherwood Parkdale Skating Club is looking to add two-three enthusiastic Canskate Coaches to our Coaching Team for the 2020-2021 Season. Future candidates taking the NCCP Canskate Course in the spring/summer of 2020 may apply conditionally and will be considered based on requirements met by start of season.

The Polaris Figure Skating Club is located in Labrador City, NL. Nestled in beautiful scenic Labrador, we are Newfoundland & Labrador’s best kept secret. The Wabush Figure Skating Club (WFSC) is a non-profit, volunteer-run sports club.  We offer several programs for all ages and levels of skating.  We are located in Wabush, Labrador and we are seeking a qualified Regional Skate Canada Coach to assume the role of Club Coach for the 2020 – 2021 skating season. Our club is located in Wabush, NL Canada, A beautiful northern mining town near the Quebec border.
