  • The Candidate should be familiar with the new Star 1 – 5 test program

Job description: Club Team Coach

Located in East Vancouver, the Grandview Skating Club is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated person to complement our current coaching team and help provide a supportive and encouraging atmosphere for our athletes and their families. Grandview SC operates with a team-coaching approach where all our coaches are cooperatively led by our Coaching Director. Classes are offered 5 days a week in Fall and Winter; and 2-3 days in Spring and Summer. Grandview programs include: CanSkate, CanPower, STAR 1 (Junior Development), STARSkate, Competitive and off-ice training.

Qualifications:

  • Current Skate Canada Coaching Certification
  • Minimum ISPC Level 2 completion or NCCP Intermediate StarSkate Provincial Certified (ISPC) Coach or higher (preferred)
  • Ability and interest to coach skating at all levels, from CanSkate to Gold-level STARSkate, including Adult skaters.

The Greater Vancouver Synchronized Skating Club (GVSSC) is seeking a synchronized skating head coach for the 2019/2020 season and beyond for our Open team. The coaching position entails on and off ice coaching. We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about the sport of synchro, enthusiastic, reliable and able to create a positive training environment through their dedication to the team and the overall Club.

The competitive synchronized skating season runs from August to March. The Open team trains two nights per week, and practices on and off the ice for 4 hours and 2 hours per week, respectively.

Coaching responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Planning and running on and off ice practice sessions;
  • Team building;
  • Additional on and off ice practice sessions as necessary throughout the season; and
  • Attendance at competitions, exhibitions and monitoring sessions, etc.

The candidate requires the following qualifications:

  • NCCP Level 3—National coach

Port-aux-Basques Skating Club, in Port-aux-Basques NL, is seeking a Club Coach to team with 6 part-time coaches to deliver both Canskate and Starskate programs. We skate 14-15 hours per week over 4 days. A maximum of 8 hours per week can be billed to the club for administrative duties as assigned at a rate of pay of $22/hr. Two Off Ice sessions per week are non-negotiable and must include both physical activity as well as building skater/athlete mindset. Salary/coaching fee commensurate with skill and seniority.
