The Nakusp Skating Club is looking to hire a coach for the 2017/2018 season and beyond. The club offers Pre-CanSkate, CanSkate and StarSkate programs, and is interested into looking into other areas that might grow our club and meet community demand, including CanPowerSkate and skating classes for adults. The White Rock South Surrey Coaching Team is currently looking for an enthusiastic, team coach to join our team. We are a rapidly growing club that focuses on competitive, dance, adult and recreational and learn to skate programs. Skate Ponoka is a non-profit athletic association affiliated with Skate Canada. We have approximately 25 Starskaters, 15 Jumpstart skaters, and 60 Can/PreCanskaters, as well as 2 Synchronized skating teams. The Westlock Figure Skating Club is seeking two Coaches to teach programs in Learn to Skate and CanSkate. The Town of Westlock is located 45 minutes North of St.Albert. Classes will be held in the new, modern Westlock Rotary Spirit Centre.

Hafford Skating Club is seeking coaching for the 2017/18 season. We are looking for a coach with preference to someone who can test and coach STARSkate 2 & 3, Skills 5 and above up to Senior Bronze as well as CanSkate. CanSkate coaching is assisted by skaters from our STARSkate Program. Preferred skate days are Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Hafford is located 100 km NW of Saskatoon, 60 km east of North Battleford. Since we have natural ice our season typically runs from mid-December to mid-March at most. We are a small club with 18 registered members in 2016/17.

The Club’s professional coaching staff are second to none. Their efforts, along with the skaters’ talent and commitment, contribute to the success of our club. Since its inception, the GSC has been the home and training center of many accomplished skaters and coaches, who have represented the club at National and International levels.

GSC is looking to welcome an General Manager to the team. The position will report to a volunteer Board of Directors, with a direct reporting relationship to the Board President and indirectly to the Executive, and members of the Board, and will be accountable for leading the organization by implementing Board policies and decisions and providing overall leadership to all aspects of skating club operations.

Position Details:

Hours of Work: Specific hours to be determined, ~30 hours per week expected, availability in evenings may be required

Salary: $30,000 – $40,000, commensurate on experience.
The Club will contribute up to 75% of professional development fees incurred annually to a maximum of $1000.

Reporting Relationship:
The General Manager will report directly to the Board President and the Executive of the Board. The Board will provide direction and support to establish annual performance objectives in line with the key accountabilities outlined below.

The General Manager will be expected to attend all Board meetings (typically one per month).

Key Job Accountabilities:
The General Manager will be accountable for overall club operations, ensuring that the GSC achieves our strategic goals and operational plan objectives. Providing leadership to all GSC staff, including part-time and coaching staff, and working with the Director of Skating and the Director of CanSkate, the General Manager will be responsible for implementing the long-term vision of the club, ensuring that we continue to provide the best possible programming to meet the needs of our skating families.

Key job accountabilities will include:
• Implement Board policies and directions related to club operations;
• Provide support and information to the GSC Board of Directors;
• With the Board Treasurer, establish, monitor, and ensure GSC operates within club budgets;
• Coordinate the Business Management of GSC, including development of performance indicators;
• Oversee work of Accounting Generalist and office staff;
• Monitor monthly and year-to-date financials and membership information;
• With the Skating Directors, and working within Skate Canada requirements, continue to drive overall improvements in all program areas;
• Develop and implement a strategy for communication, marketing and promotional materials;
• Develop and sustain community partnerships and governing body relationships as required;
• Develop and maintain a volunteer base to ensure seamless execution of all GSC events
• Develop and implement a strategy for funding through grant applications, fundraising and other activities; and
• Other duties as required.

Skills and Experiences:
• Post-secondary education in a related discipline (i.e. business administration, not-for-profit management, recreational program management)
• Knowledge and/or experience in the sport of figure skating is considered an asset
• More than 5 years of working experience in business or sports administration, including management of budgets and building and implementing strategic business plans
• Strong leadership skills, with previous experience managing a team
• Strong leadership presence, with the ability to work with a variety of stakeholders
• Strong customer service skills
• Previous experience working in a non-profit organization is considered and asset
• Working knowledge and experience with business software (i.e. accounting, member management systems, other Office suites)
• A passion for sport

Anticipatory Staffing: Coaching Opportunity at the Nepean Skating Club
The Nepean Skating Club (NSC) is seeking expressions of interest from NCCP certified professional coaches to join our team.

We are a not-for-profit organization with more than 50 years of history operating in the west Ottawa area. NSC has an annual membership base of approximately 1,000 skaters and offers instruction at all levels from CanSkate to Competitive, with classes 12 months of the year.

An ideal candidate would be a team player‎ with a passion for teaching skaters of all ages and skill levels‎, and the ability to communicate with students, parents, executive members, and fellow coaches effectively. Applications must demonstrate training in the Star 1-5 program.

The Burlington Skating Centre (BSC) is a thriving, well balanced skating club with a large membership.  We operate year round, offering a wide range of programming including Learn to Skate, StarSkate and Competitive skating to athletes competing both Nationally and Internationally. We offer competitive remuneration in a team oriented, professional environment operating primarily from a dedicated figure skating pad at the Appleby Ice Centre.  All coaches report to the Technical Director and must have current NCCP qualifications, first aid, CPR and be current with the new star system.

This coach must be able to communicate well with skaters, parents, board members, and fellow coaches. This position is 2 days per week. Consideration will also be given to a Level 1 (Primary StarSkate/Regional Coach Star) interested in growing with the club.

• An entry level Canskate coach looking to assist the head coach. Preference will be given to those individuals interested in continuing the NCPP coach training and/or CanPowerSkate program. This position would be 1-2 days per week.

Prince Edward Island

Sherwood Parkdale Skating Club in PEI is looking to add one – two enthusiastic members to our Coaching Team for the 2017-2018 Season. Our growing club skates out of Cody Banks Arena in Charlottetown with community programs in Crapaud and Montague. Our season begins in September with a Fall Program. Our Winter Season runs from October through March. Programs include Pre-Canskate, Canskate, Starskate (Jumpstart, Juniors, Seniors,) Developmental Level Synchro and Adults. Competitive Skating is encouraged and works within the framework of our Starskate Programs.

The successful candidate(s) will meet the following requirements: • Registered Professioanl Coach in good standing (with Skate Canada) • Meets National Coaching Certification requirements with a minimum Canskate Trained Status (in Training may be considered) • Be willing to coach Canskate Group Lessons • Willingness to work with other coaches, parents, volunteers and executive • Good communication skills and pays attention to detail • Be interested in continuing education in coaching

Newfoundland/Labrador

Silver Wings Skating Club is seeking a qualified Skate Canada Coach to assume the role of Club Coach for the 2016-17 skating season. Our club offers a variety of Skate Canada programs and our season typically begins mid-October and runs through April with 13-15 hours of coaching available each week. Minimum Primary StarSkate Certification required. Candidates must have current First Aid Certification and be a Skate Canada Coaching member in good standing.

The Club Coach is responsible for the overall coordination of program delivery, on ice instruction, planning and skater development. Other duties include attending competitions and test days, planning and executing a year-end ice show, coach scheduling, and parent communications. All responsibilities held by the position will with the full support of the Club Executive.

While the goal of Silver Wings Skating Club is to secure a Club Coach, as a progressive and ever-growing club whose members and executive are open to new ideas, we are willing to entertain alternate and flexible coaching arrangements that will meet the needs of the club, its members and the coaching staff.
