  • This role requires you to be available to work Fridays , Saturdays and Sundays.

Qualifications

  • A current Emergency First Aid and CPR certification or willing to obtain.
  • NCCP Theory Level 2 (asset).

  • A thorough knowledge of the requirements of the various levels of skating programs.
  • Advanced teaching and coaching skills.
  • Interact well with children and adults.

Columbia Valley Skating Club located in beautiful Invermere BC is looking for a skating coach. Invermere is located in the East Kootenays and is a natures playground with hiking, biking, skiing and lakes!

This could be a head coach position or a shared coaching team. We are looking to grow our club and programming.  We would like to offer a full range of Skate Canada programming in our club so we require a minimum Primary STARSKATE level and a CanPower certification would be a bonus. Our club currently offers Pre-Canskate, Canskate and STARskate programming.

Job description: Club Team Coach

Located in East Vancouver, the Grandview Skating Club is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated person to complement our current coaching team and help provide a supportive and encouraging atmosphere for our athletes and their families. Grandview SC operates with a team-coaching approach where all our coaches are cooperatively led by our Coaching Director. Classes are offered 5 days a week in Fall and Winter; and 2-3 days in Spring and Summer. Grandview programs include: CanSkate, CanPower, STAR 1 (Junior Development), STARSkate, Competitive and off-ice training.

Qualifications:

  • Current Skate Canada Coaching Certification
  • Minimum ISPC Level 2 completion or NCCP Intermediate StarSkate Provincial Certified (ISPC) Coach or higher (preferred)
  • Ability and interest to coach skating at all levels, from CanSkate to Gold-level STARSkate, including Adult skaters.

The Greater Vancouver Synchronized Skating Club (GVSSC) is seeking a synchronized skating head coach for the 2019/2020 season and beyond for our Open team. The coaching position entails on and off ice coaching. We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about the sport of synchro, enthusiastic, reliable and able to create a positive training environment through their dedication to the team and the overall Club.

The competitive synchronized skating season runs from August to March. The Open team trains two nights per week, and practices on and off the ice for 4 hours and 2 hours per week, respectively.

Coaching responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Planning and running on and off ice practice sessions;
  • Team building;
  • Additional on and off ice practice sessions as necessary throughout the season; and
  • Attendance at competitions, exhibitions and monitoring sessions, etc.

Job description:
The Kimberley Skating Club is looking for a qualified and experienced Coach for the 2019/2020 skating season. Our Club offers approximately 14 hours of ice per week from September to early April. The Kimberley Skating Club serves approximately 50-60 skaters through a variety of programs including Off Ice classes, PreCanskate, CanSkate, PreStar, and Star levels. Skaters have the opportunity to attend 3 or more competitions each year, as well as test days. This year the KSCwill be hosting the EKI in January 2020. Our club also presents a spectacular year-end Ice Show that includes all skaters and a host of amazing parent volunteers. We are seeking an experienced, organized, compassionate, highly motivated professional with a passion for skating who demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work with a wide age range of skaters. The successful candidate will also have successful experience working with parents, fellow coaches and a supportive club executive.

The interested Candidate should be a registered Skate Canada Coach. Available to teach strong fundamentals to beginning and developing skaters as well as learn to skate to our CanSkaters. The Prince George Figure Skating Club (PGFSC) is a progressive club looking to welcome a positive, passionate and enthusiastic new member to our dynamic coaching team for the upcoming 2019/20 season and beyond.  The successful candidate must be supportive of team coaching and be prepared to be involved in all aspects of club activities and skater development.

We are a large Club with over 360 members and offer programming for PreCanSkate, CanSkate, AdultSkate, CanPower and all levels of Figure Skating – Junior Academy, StarSkate and Competitive programs. PGFSC offers nearly year-round programming: September – Mon to Fri, Oct-Mid March – Sun to Fri, April-Mid May – Mon to Thurs, July-August 3 to 4 days per week for a minimum of 6 weeks.

The Hinton Figure Skating Club is seeking new Coaches. Our club provides Pre- Canskate, Canskate and STARskate programs. With about 80 members, our club strives to provide a fun and caring environment for our members to learn and improve their skating skills.

The successful candidates will:

  • Be or be willing to become Canskate and/or primary STARskate certified.
  • Have a Police Clearance check, including vulnerable sector check.

  • Have completed or be willing to complete the Making Ethical Decisions online module.

Time commitment:

The Ice Palace Figure Skating Club is accepting applications for a coach to teach our CanSkate, Junior Academy, and JumpStart programs. Skate Humboldt is looking to add to our STARSkate coaching team for the 2019-2020 season (Oct 18 to Apr 9). Humboldt is 112km east of Saskatoon and our ice time at Elgar Petersen Arena is on Mondays (4 to 8 p.m.) and Fridays (4 to 6:30 p.m.).

Minimum requirement: regional coach-in-training with STARSkate 1-5 module and testing. The applicant must be willing to instruct both group and private lessons. The successful applicant will also be expected to work closely with Skate Humboldt board members and volunteers on program scheduling, annual ice show, and other events.

The Gloucester Skating Club (GSC) has been serving skaters since 1971 and is one largest clubs in Canada with an active membership of more than 1,100 skaters. Scope of Position:

Position purpose:
The Valley East Skating Club is currently looking for three Skate Canada certified Coaches to join our growing club for the 2019-2020 season. Each of the three successful applicants will be responsible to lead one of the three existing programs (CanSkate, PreStarSkate and StarSkate), assigned by the Board of Directors.

We are looking into adding a PowerSkate, Edges and Turns and Adult Skate program.

We are a club with young but growing skaters and we are looking for a coach who is ready to provide high-quality programming to our skaters, both on ice and off ice, in order to help them continue their improvement and attain higher skating levels. As a Professional Coach for the Valley East Skating club, you will also play a key role in helping our club recruit new skaters in order to ensure the sustainability of our club.

Job Summary and Responsibilities:
Professional Coach is responsible for:

  • Leading program assigned by the Board of Directors
  • Overseeing program quality immediately above the point of direct delivery of services.
  • Assigning skaters to groups based on ability, and ensure appropriate ratios.
  • Conducting equipment checks and recommendations.
  • Managing program equipment and supplies.
  • Motivating and mentoring coaches to provide high quality lesson plans.
  • Following all Skate Canada and Skate Ontario guidelines and recommendations for athlete development.
