The Beaver Valley Skating Club in Fruitvale, BC have some coaching opportunities for the 2020/21 season. They are seeking a Head Coach and/or Team Coach and CANSkate Coach. The season runs from September-May. The Team Coach position and Head Coach position includes both on ice and off ice private and group coaching opportunities in all figure skating disciplines.  Currently, the Club is a healthy, active skating club with over 95 skaters and 15+ hours of group and private ice per week.  Fruitvale is a small community nestled in the Kootenay’s and close to Rossland’s famous Red Mountain for skiing, mountain biking and hiking.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum NCCP Level 1 certified or CANSkate (trained).
  • Canpower Certified an asset.
  • The Candidate should be familiar with the new Star 1 – 5 test program
  • 5-10 years previous Coaching experience an asset (unless CANSkate Coach only).
  • Active member of Skate Canada and in good standing.

The Golden Figure Skating Club is looking for a qualified and experienced Coach for the 2020/2021 skating season. Golden Figure Skating Club offers approximately 13-15 hrs of ice per week from September to mid March. Our club consists of approximately 50-60 skaters and offers programs from Off Ice classes, PreCanskate, CanSkate, PreStar, Star and Competitive skaters. Skaters attend 2-3 competitions per year, as well as test days and a year end ICE Show production. We are seeking an experienced, organized, enthusiastic, highly motivated professional with a passion for skating who demonstrates strong interpersonal skills with children, parents, fellow coaches and the club executive.

The interested Candidate should be a registered Skate Canada Coach at the primary level or higher. Available to teach strong fundamentals to beginning and developing skaters as well as learn to skate to our CanSkaters. The Candidate should be familiar with the new Star 1 – 5 test program, or willing to learn and implement in their teaching with our club programs.

Skills and attributes required are:

  • NCCP Level 1 or higher
  • CanSkate Certified & Primary STARSkate Certified
  • In Good Standing
  • Able to teach all levels of dance and skills up to Gold level
  • Offer group and private lessons, Morning ice 3-4X per week & 4-5 afternoons till 5 or 7pm
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with all parents, students, board and other coaches
  • Positive Role Model/Team player
  • Excellent communication skills

Located in East Vancouver, the Grandview Skating Club is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated person to complement our current coaching team and help provide a supportive and encouraging atmosphere for our athletes and their families. Grandview SC operates with a team-coaching approach where all our coaches are cooperatively led by our Coaching Director. Classes are offered 5 days a week in Fall and Winter; and 2-3 days in Spring and Summer. Grandview programs include: CanSkate, CanPower, STAR 1 (Junior Development), STARSkate, Competitive, Synchro Skills and off-ice training.

Qualifications:

  • Current Skate Canada Coaching Certification
  • Minimum ISPC Level 2 completion or NCCP Intermediate StarSkate Provincial Certified (ISPC) Coach or higher (preferred)
  • Ability and interest to coach skating at all levels, from CanSkate to Gold-level STARSkate, including Adult skaters.
  • Ability to partner in dance an asset, but not a requirement

The Nelson Skating Club is committed to providing high quality programming in Nelson BC. The Club is looking to hire a Primary StarSkate Certified Coach. Club programming ranges from CanSkate to StarSkate and Adult Learn to Skate with additional programming possible. This position involves some administrative work so working knowledge of Uplifter is an asset. Qualified applicants should describe their passion for the sport and the contributions they can make towards a fun, safe environment for skaters of all abilities.

Alberta-NWT/Nunavut

The Alix Figure Skating Club is looking for a qualified coach for the 2020/2021 skating season. The Alix Figure Skating Club offers 7 hours of ice time per week from mid-October to mid-March. Our club consists of approximately 20-25 skaters. Skaters attend competitions, and test days throughout the year followed by a year-end carnival.

We are seeking an organized, enthusiastic person who can effectively communicate with skaters ages 3-15, program assistants, parents and the club executive. This coach will be required to teach CanSkate, JumpStart and StarSkate. Currently, the club is very group instruction driven; the ability to multitask will be required. Coach must be familiar with all disciplines of dance, skating skills, freeskate, and interpretative.

Requirements for the successful candidate are:

  • Able to provide a copy of your coaching dashboard, which includes:
  • NCCP Level 1/ Regional Coach trained or higher
  • Be a Skate Canada registered coach in good standing
  • Current first aid with CPR-C
  • Current criminal record check including vulnerable sectors

The Hay River Figure Skating Club is seeking a CANSkate Coordinator/Club Coach with strong organization and communication skills to join our team of Coaches. Hay River is located on the south side of the beautiful Great Slave Lake in the Northwest Territories an hour and a half north of the Alberta Border.

Killarney Figure Skating Club is currently looking for a dedicated, enthusiastic individual to fill a coaching position for our Starskate program.

Our club in located in Killarney Manitoba, a small community in southwest Manitoba and currently has around 70 members.

Job description, but not limited to

  • Instruct athletes in the Starskate program
  • Assess star levels
  • Help athletes to prepare for competitive events, tests, and seminars.
  • choreograph routines for skaters along with end of year ice show
  • Follow Skate Canada code of ethics
  • Be willing to work in a team environment

Time Requirements

  • Season runs from late Sept. to Mid March
  • Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:00pm – 8:00pm. These times are subject to change based on ice availability and coach availability.

Qualifications

  • Be a registered Skate Canada Professional coach in good standing
  • Minimum Regional coach (Primary Starskate/Level 1) certified
  • Star level assessment certification

Prince Edward Island

Sherwood Parkdale Skating Club is looking to add two-three enthusiastic Canskate Coaches to our Coaching Team for the 2020-2021 Season. Future candidates taking the NCCP Canskate Course in the spring/summer of 2020 may apply conditionally and will be considered based on requirements met by start of season.

Our club offers seven Canskate Sessions and competitive wages. Regional/Provincial/National Coaches may apply for consideration. Our growing club skates out of Cody Banks Arena in Charlottetown with a Community Program in Crapaud.

Our season begins in September with a Fall Program. Our Winter Season runs from October through March. We have a full spectrum of programs including Canskate, Starskate (Jumpstart, Juniors, Seniors), Adults, Sledge Canskate, CanPOWER Skate & Synchronized Skating. Competitive Skating is encouraged and works within the framework of our Starskate Programs. The successful candidate(s) will meet the following requirements:

  • Registered Professional Coach in good standing (with Skate Canada)
  • Meets National Coaching Certification requirements with a minimum Canskate in-training Status
  • Willingness to work with other coaches, parents, volunteers and executive
  • Good communication skills and pays attention to detail
  • Be interested in continuing education in coaching

The Polaris Figure Skating Club is located in Labrador City, NL. Nestled in beautiful scenic Labrador, we are Newfoundland & Labrador’s best kept secret. With all the amenities of city life, we are at nature’s doorstep. We are seeking another permanent coach who is outgoing, with a love of teaching, to join us beginning in the 2020/2021 season. We promote an encouraging and supportive atmosphere for all our 110 skaters ranging from the PreCanSkate to Gold-level STARSkate levels.

We begin our season (20 hours a week on ice) in October and run until April. During which we host a test day, attend 3-4 competitions a year (all-expense paid trips for our coaching staff), and we close out the season with an ice show which is bigger and better every year and a local favourite in our community.
