Skate Canada Statement

Skate Canada’s thoughts are with all those impacted by the tragedy unfolding in Ukraine.  We count ourselves among the International Skating Union (ISU) Members who appealed to the ISU to follow the direction of the International Olympic Committee, the Canadian Olympic Committee and others to prohibit the participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes and officials in ISU Events. We are pleased to see the ISU’s statement today confirming their position in support of Ukraine and Ukrainian athletes. We can only hope that the international response to these actions coupled with the courage and strength demonstrated by the people of the Ukraine will bring this invasion to an end quickly.

Skate Canada confirms that the ISU World Synchronized Skating Championships® 2022 will proceed at the FirstOntario Centre in Hamilton, ON from April 7-9, 2022. Participation of athletes and officials from Russia and Belarus is prohibited. We look forward to hosting an amazing event for all other participants.  Information on ticket sales will be released in the coming days.
