Can I bring my camera and take pictures during the event?
The Skate Canada Spectator Camera Policy is in place at events to protect the safety of athletes and to ensure a distraction-free environment for all spectators.
Personal photography is permitted by spectators but cannot impact the viewing ability of others. All photos taken during the event must be for personal use only and captured on a small digital camera or mobile device.
The following is not permitted at Skate Canada events:
- Flash photography to ensure the safety of the athletes
- Camera bags and large camera equipment such as tripods
- Professional cameras and/or detachable lenses greater than 6 inches or 200 mm
No video recording of any type is permitted within the venue during the competition.
Unauthorized sale, commercial use and/or third-party distribution of photos from events are strictly prohibited. Only accredited team members are permitted to videotape their skater or team from rink side during practice.
Spectators who do not abide by these restrictions risk having their camera confiscated or being removed from the event by the venue security staff.
Why does Skate Canada have a camera policy?
This policy is in place at events to protect the safety and privacy of athletes and to ensure a distraction-free environment for all spectators.

What are the 2022 Skate Canada Synchronized Skating Championships?
The 2022 Skate Canada Synchronized Skating Championships will bring approximately 40 synchronized skating teams and more than 800 skaters from across the country to Calgary. The city previously hosted the event in 2020.
Teams will compete for national titles in the senior, junior, open, intermediate, and novice categories. The top two senior teams will represent Canada at the ISU World Synchronized Skating Championships® 2022, taking place April 7-9, 2022, in Hamilton, Ontario.
Where are the 2022 Skate Canada Synchronized Skating Championships being held?
All competition and official practices for the 2022 Skate Canada Synchronized Skating Championships will be held at WinSport Arena at Canada Olympic Park, from February 25-27, 2022, in Calgary, Alberta.
What time are the events and when do the doors open?
The doors open each day 30 minutes prior to the beginning of the first practice. The most up-to-date schedule is posted on the Skate Canada website at www.skatecanada.ca. Actual competition start times are subject to change up to and including the week of the event. It is suggested that you visit our website regularly to keep track of any schedule changes.
How is COVID-19 affecting the 2022 Skate Canada Synchronized Skating Championships?
The event is scheduled to take place as planned. Skate Canada continues to closely monitor the provincial and federal health authorities’ position on the global health crisis and is committed to the health and safety of the athletes, coaches, officials, volunteers, and spectators. We ask that everyone respects the safety protocols in place at this event.
Note: The city of Calgary requires proof of double vaccination against COVID-19 at least two weeks in advance to enter public venues, including WinSport Arena at Canada Olympic Park.
Which athletes will be competing at this event?
The full list of athlete entries will be confirmed at the beginning of February 2022. Competitors are subject to change up to and including the week of the event.

GENERAL INFORMATION:
Can I give gifts to the skaters?
Spectators are asked to refrain from throwing gifts and flowers on the ice.
Can I bring my own food and beverages to the event?
Outside food and beverage are NOT permitted in the arena. Refillable water bottles are permitted.
What type of food and beverage options are available at WinSport?

Can I bring flags, banners or noisemakers to the event?
Handheld flags and fan signs are permitted in the arena; however, they must not obstruct the view of patrons in the stands. Larger fan banners that are intended to be hung in the arena must be hung at either end of the arena with non-damaging tape, rope or zip-ties. Skate Canada is not responsible for lost or damaged banners.
Airhorns and noisemakers requiring batteries or compressed air are not permitted in the arena. Small handheld noisemakers may only be used following a skater’s program or during ice resurfacing. If flags, signs/banners, and noisemakers become disruptive to fellow fans, Skate Canada will ask that these items be stowed away.
Are there in and out privileges during each day of the event?
Yes, and it is important to keep your event bracelet for re-entry to the building.
Is smoking allowed in the building?
WinSport is a smoke-free building. Smoking is only permitted in exterior designated areas.

Does Skate Canada supply transportation to and from the arena?

Is parking available at WinSport?
Parking is available at WinSport on a first-come first-serve basis, at no cost.
