Canada’s Liam Firus wins bronze medal at Warsaw Cup

WARSAW – Liam Firus of North Vancouver earned his second medal this season on the ISU Challenger Series figure skating circuit on Sunday placing third in men’s competition at the Warsaw Cup.

Matteo Rizzo of Italy took the gold with 232.98 points followed by Stephane Walker of Switzerland at 204.48 and Firus, also third after the short program, with 200.71.

‘’It wasn’t the performance I wanted,’’ said Firus, also third at the U.S. International earlier this season. ‘’Still it’s a step in the right direction my goal is to be up there at the national championships and it’s all about pacing the season properly and figuring out what to tweak.’’

On Saturday, Emy Decelles of Baie-Comeau, Que., was sixth in women’s competition while in ice dancing Sarah Arnold of Waterloo, Ont., and Thomas Williams of Okotoks, Alta., were eighth and Molly Lanaghan of Scarborough, Ont., and Dmitre Razgulajevs of Ajax, Ont., were 10th.
