ESPOO, Finland – Three-time world champion Patrick Chan of Toronto won the silver medal on Sunday in men’s competition to conclude the Finlandia Trophy figure skating competition.

Canada’s three entries each won a medal at this event.

On Friday gold medals were earned by world champions Meagan Duhamel of Lively, Ont., and Eric Radford of Balmertown, Ont., in pairs and Kaetlyn Osmond of Marystown, N.L., in women’s singles.

In Sunday’s men’s free skate, Nathan Chen of the U.S., took the gold with 256.44 points. Chan followed at 248.73 and Maxim Kovtun of Russia was third at 229.57.

‘’I had a great start to my free skate which really showed how well my training’s been going,’’ said Chan, third after Saturday’s short program. ‘’I haven’t been this ready this early in the season in the past.

‘’I got a lot of confidence and learned a lot about the program. I’m happy with the result and I know I’m going to get better.’’
