Burns Lake Figure Skating Club

The Burns Lake Figure Skating Club is seeking to hire a coach beginning with the 2014/15 season, ongoing. Preference will be given to applicants possessing a NCCP certified (Level 1) and all must be currently registered with Skate Canada. The club offers Pre-CanSkate, CanSkate and STARSkate programs.

We focus on building confidence and self accomplishment through the art of skating. Our average enrollment over the past few years is 40 skaters with a high percentage being senior skaters at this time. We are hoping to continue to advance these skaters and recruit younger members to join our team.

The skating season runs from the 1st of October to mid-March. We require a coach for 10-15 hours a week. Ice times are mostly after school hours with the possibility of the odd morning ice time.

Burns Lake is a small community located in the heart of the Lakes District. Burns Lake offers many outdoor/indoor recreational activities. Recent additions to our community include: a new hospital, a rebuilt sawmill, and updated recreational facility boasting a fitness centre, climbing wall and racket ball court, with adjoining curling rink. The Lakes District area is surrounded by many walking, hiking and biking,, x-country skiing trails, snowmobiling and many lakes for fishing, kayaking or other water sports.

Pacific Ice Synchronized Skating Club

Are you an energetic, enthusiastic, highly motivated team player that loves a challenge? Then Pacific Ice Synchronized Skating Club has a position for you. We are looking for someone to fill the position of head coach. This position is for the 2014/15 synchronized skating season. Our teams skate on Tuesday and Thursday at 8 Rinks in Burnaby.

Pacific Ice Synchronized Skating Club participates in local and away competitions and exhibition skates. In past years our teams have competed in many competitions including but not limited to BCYK (BCYT), Mountains, and Winterfest. Our teams have also participated at the national level.

The successful applicant needs to be dedicated, highly motivated, creative and be able to work well with our skaters, and team managers. Synchro coaching experience is not mandatory; synchronized skating experience is preferred. A background in ice dance is a definite asset, as well as choreography. Lamont Figure Skating Club

Lamont Figure Skating Club is looking to hire an additional coach for the 2014/15 season and beyond. The club offers Pre-CanSkate, CanSkate, STARSkate and CanPowerSkate programs, and is always looking into other areas that encourage growth within our club. The club is located in Lamont, Alberta, which is approximately 65 km northeast of Edmonton.

We generally have between 55-65 skaters (including 14 STARSkaters) at varying levels. The skating season runs from the end of September to the end of March. Currently our ice is reserved from 4pm-6:30pm Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, with the possibility of one more 2-3 hour session. Our STARSkaters continue on with a spring session at another facility for a longer season. We require a coach for a minimum of 8 hours per week and possibly more. Job Description:
The University of Waterloo (uW) is seeking a highly-motivated and organized individual to serve as the head coach of its varsity figure skating program on a part-time basis. Under the direction of the Manager, Interuniversity Sport, the Head Coach is responsible for the continuous development of the varsity figure skating team through coaching and administration.

These responsibilities will be fulfilled through coordination, planning, evaluation, and implementation of yearly training programs, as well as recruiting highly qualified OUA caliber student-athletes. Additional responsibilities include proper training techniques, individualized training schedules, and strategic long term program and athlete development. The incumbent must also act in accordance with documented policy and procedure guidelines and adhere to uW, OUA, and Skate Canada policies and procedures.

The coach will work cooperatively with the uWaterloo athletic department staff team in event scheduling, facility issues, travel planning, budgeting, purchasing of equipment and apparel, and completing administrative requirements.

The ideal candidate will be a friendly, results oriented person with an ability to work with student staff and volunteers. Minimum requirements include Intermediate level STARSkate coach (level 2), three years of successful coaching at the university or an equivalent level including senior test levels in STARSkate, and novice/junior competitive levels.

Superior interpersonal, organizational, leadership, coaching, and technical skills are required.  The successful candidate should be competent in gold level free skate and dance. Synchro and choreography knowledge and experience will be an asset.

The varsity figure skating season begins in September and finishes with OUA championships in February. The team competes in three competitions throughout the year (Nov., Jan., Feb.). Practices occur on campus at the Columbia IceField Arena. Practice times are currently mixed between weekday early mornings (6:30am-8:30am) and afternoons (12:30pm-2:30pm).

Silver Blades Skating Club

Tweed & District FSC

Tweed & District Figure Skating Club is currently accepting resumes for Professional Coach(es) for the 2014-2015 skating season. We skate Mondays and Thursdays 4:00pm – 7:00pm. Time is subject to change depending on number of participants.

Scope of Position:
The Tweed & District Figure Skating Club is seeking an individual who is enthusiastic, dedicated, motivated and team oriented to join our Professional Coaching staff. This individual must have the ability to create positive working relationships with the Tweed & District Figure Skating Club Executive, Coaches, Skaters and Parents.

Silver Blades SC

Silver Blades SC is located in Corner Brook, NL. The Silver Blades Skating Club is seeking a Level 2 Certified club coach for the 2014-2015 skating season. They have over 180 members in CanSkate, STARSkate, CompetitiveSkate, and 4 Synchronized Skating Teams. Guaranteed 18-20 on ice coaching hours per week. The season runs 30-35 weeks from September to early June, with the possibility of 3 weeks at a local private summer school. Will be paid on a bi-weekly basis for certain administrative duties as well.

Requirements:

  • Training in the new CanSkate program an asset
  • Previous Synchro coaching experience an asset
  • A demonstrated commitment to continuous professional development

Stephenville Skating Club

The Stephenville Skating Club is seeking a new team member to join our Club for the 2014-2015 season. We are a small, but close-knit and energetic club with approximately 100 members including the new CanSkate program, StarSkate program, CompetitiveSkate program, and SynchroSkate program.

Candidates must be NCCP trained or certified Primary STARSkate Coach (Formerly Level 1), enthusiastic, professional, and must be willing to work in a team setting.

The successful candidate will be involved in:

  • Coaching STARSkate and CompetitiveSkate private and semi-private lessons to skaters of all levels (off-ice and on-ice sessions )
  • Co-administering/coaching the (new) CanSkate program
  • Coaching SynchroSkate
  • Annual Year-end ice show
  • Accompany skaters to competitions, test days, etc
