Skate Canada congratulates Canadian pair champion Cody Hay for winning the Northwestern Alberta Male Athlete of the Year award. He was presented with the award at the inaugural Ernie’s Sports Experts Sports Recognition Banquet for Northwestern Alberta on Saturday, May 4.

Cody and his partner Anabelle Langlois, who also attended the banquet, charmed the hometown crowd the following day when they appeared at the Sexsmith Skating Club’s spring show “A N’Ice Connection Spring Skate” at the Coca-Cola Centre as guest skaters.

Cody, 24, of Grand Prairie, Alta., and 26-year-old Anabelle have been skating together since 2005 and placed ninth at the 2008 World Championships in Sweden.

Another figure skating winner at last Saturday’s banquet was Pam Chislett who was named the winner of the Official of the Year award. Pam, of Grand Prairie, Alta., is affiliated to the Ice Palace Figure Skating Club in Edmonton and was one of the Canadian officials at the 2007 ISU Junior Grand Prix in Chemnitz, Germany.

Congratulations Cody and Pam!
