Skate Canada congratulates Andrew Poje for his nomination as the 2007 Athlete of the Year for Kitchener-Waterloo and Area. The 10 nominees were announced today at a press conference at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium. The name of the winner will be revealed at the 10th Annual Civitan Sports of Waterloo Region Athlete of the Year Awards Presentation at the RIM Park in Waterloo on May 28, 2008.

Andrew, 20, of Waterloo, Ont., has represented Canada in the ice dance discipline with Kaitlyn Weaver since July 2006. They are the 2008 national silver medalists and 2007 bronze medalists. Internationally, Andrew and Kaitlyn placed in the top-20 at their first two World Championships in 2007 and 2008 and finished fifth at the 2008 ISU Four Continents Championships in Korea.
