Chilliwack, BC - Nexxice’s head coach Shelley Barnett was honoured last night during the competitive medal ceremonies at the 2008 BMO Skate Canada Synchronized Skating Championships in Chilliwack. She was presented with a 2007 Petro-Canada Coaching Excellence Award which serves to recognize coaches whose athletes have won medals at world championships or Olympic Games.

Nexxice of the Burlington Skating Club and Kitchener-Waterloo Skating Club became Canada’s national senior synchronized skating team champion at last year’s championships and went on to capture the bronze medal at the World Championships held in London, Ontario, in March.
Shelley has been with Nexxice for seven years since the team was formed in 2000. She began coaching professionally in 1982 and is a NCCP Level 3 certified coach.
