Amanda BillingsFormer national team member Amanda Billings has joined Disney’s High School Musical : The Ice Tour. The global tour will feature a group of 34 skating stars that includes Olympic and world championship competitors, national champions from around the world and professional skaters.

The global tour, comprised of three touring groups, is expected to play more than 100 cities in its first year alone, including the worldwide premiere at Madison Square Garden in New York on September 29 and 30, 2007 and the Staples Center in Los Angeles on October 4 and 5, 2007 in addition to cities in Europe, Mexico and Canada.

Amanda is currently starting rehearsals in Florida. Everything is going well and she is very excited to perform in the opening show August 31, 2007 at Lakeland, Florida.

"Joining Disney's newest ice tour has given me endless opportunities for the upcoming season. I'm excited to perform in front of an audience every night and travel the U.S. East Coast and Mexico,” says Amanda. “I love the sport and can't wait to combine it with acting and dancing. Disney brought in an amazing team to create and perform the show and I feel so lucky to be a part of it. I hope all skating and High School Musical fans come to see the show. It's going to be great!"

Amanda was on the national team during the 2005-2006 season. She placed seventh at the 2007 BMO Canadian Championships and won the silver medal as a junior at the national championships in 2003. She also competed at the ISU Junior World Championships in 2005 and 2003.

Disney’s High School Musical : The Ice Tour stops in Canada include the Rogers Centre in Toronto (December 21-30, 2007), the John Labatt Centre in London (February 29-March 2, 2008), Scotiabank Place in Ottawa (March 7-9, 2008) and the Copps Coliseum in Hamilton (March 14-16, 2008).
