2002 Olympic gold medalists Jamie Sale and David Pelletier were inducted into the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame on May 29, 2004. More than 600 people were in attendance as Sale and Pelletier joined nine others being honoured for their achievements. Other athletes inducted included former Edmonton Oilers goalie Grant Fuhr, Hayley Wickenheiser, a member of the Canadian women’s Olympic hockey team that won a gold medal at the 2002 Winter Olympics, and Beckie Scott, also a gold medal winner from the 2002 Winter Olympics in cross country skiing.
Victor Kraatz, who won the ice dance gold medal with his partner Shae-Lynn Bourne at the 2003 International Skating Union World Championships, was honoured at the Vancouver Convention and Exhibition Centre on May 18, 2004 when he was inducted into the B.C. Sports Hall of Fame. Ten other athletes from British Columbia were also recognized, including Angela Chalmers, a bronze medallist in the 3,000 m at the 2002 Summer Olympics, Graeme Fell, a two-time Olympian in the steeplechase event and the 1986 Commonwealth Games Champion, Silken Laumann, three-time Olympic medallist and world champion rower, and Gail Moore, who was inducted into the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame in 1998 and the Ontario Golf Hall of Fame in 2000.
