Anabelle Langlois and Patrice Archetto skated two strong performances to claim the silver medal at the 2002 Smart Ones Skate America.

Langlois, 21, of Hull, Que., and Archetto, 29, of Montreal, Que., were in third-place after the short program, finishing behind Tatiana Totmianina and Maxim Marinin of Russia and Qing Pang and Jian Tong of China, who finished first and second, respectively.

Langlois and Archetto, the bronze medallists in the Senior Pair event at the 2002 Bank of Montreal Canadian Championships, moved up one placement to capture the silver medal following the free program. The duo skated an impressive performance that included a side-by-side triple-double toe loop sequence, side-by-side double Axels, a throw triple Salchow, and a triple twist. The program was also highlighted by a number of exciting lifts. Langlois and Archetto's marks ranged from 5.4 to 5.7 for technical merit and 5.5 to 5.8 for the presentation of their program, which was skated to Puccini's Tosca.

Totmianina and Marinin also skated a strong performance to win the event, and Pang and Tong took the bronze medal.

Langlois and Archetto will look to build on their experience at Skate America on home soil at the 2002 MasterCard Skate Canada International, which is their next ISU Grand Prix event. The event takes place Oct. 31- Nov. 3, 2002 in Quebec City, Que.
