(December 2, 2009) – Marie-Claude Savard-Gagnon, who won the 1997 Canadian pair championship with her partner Luc Bradet, will be the second figure skating champion to carry the Olympic torch. The duo competed at the 1998 Olympic Winter Games in Nagano, Japan and finished 16th. They also finished 9th at the ISU World Figure Skating Championships in Minneapolis later that year. The two represented CPA Baie-St-Paul for many years, and were also the 1990 Canadian Junior Pair Champions. They trained at the ARC Skating Academy in Toronto and were coached by Paul Martini, with choreography by Marijane Stong. Marie-Claude will carry the torch on December 2nd in Roberval, Québec
