(March 17, 2009) – Skate Canada sent two skilled synchronized skating teams to Neuchâtel, Switzerland, Nexxice Junior and Gold Ice to compete at the World Challenge Cup for Juniors 2009. The event took place from March 12-14, 2009 at the Quai Robert Comtesse ice rink.

This junior international synchronized skating event hosted 20 teams from around the world. The event features the opportunity to compete against the top junior teams from each country.

Canadian Junior Champions, Nexxice Junior from the Burlington Skating Club had an outstanding performance in both the short and free program, placing second in both. They secured the silver medal just two points behind Finland’s Team Fintastic.

Finishing in fourth place was Gold Ice from the Skate Canada Brampton-Chinguacousy club. Gold Ice placed fourth in both the short and long program. Earlier this month Gold Ice finished in second place in the junior competitive category at the 2009 BMO Skate Canada Synchronized Skating Championships.
