2008 Canadian Silver medalist Mira Leung, of Vancouver, BC, received a World Chinese Entrepreneurs Scholarship Special Talent Award at a special ceremony in December in her hometown.
“I'm really happy and appreciative to have received this award,” says Mira. “And I had a lot of fun at the ceremony meeting with the scholarship organizers and the other award recipients.”
This program, established by the Chinese Community, recognizes and encourages outstanding young achievers and is open to all high school and university students. There were 18 recipients for the three categories of awards, the Academic and Community Service and Leadership Award, the Special Talent Award and the Entrepreneurial Spirit Award.
The 19-year-old skater and 2006 Olympian placed second at the 2008 BMO Canadian Figure Skating Championships for the third consecutive year. She is headed to Goyang City, Korea, February 11- 17, 2008 to compete in the ISU Four Continents Championships. She will also compete in the ISU World Championships in Gothenburg, Sweden, March 17-23, 2008.
