CBC/Radio Canada is hosting a national skating party on Sunday February 10, 2008. The public is invited to participate in the festivities taking place simultaneously on skating rinks in Quebec City, Cap-Pelé (N.B.) and Calgary (Alta.).

There will be a special bilingual music program, CBC Skates for Québec's 400th / Musiques sur glace avec le 400e et Radio-Canada, with music from three cities across Canada live from 2-4 pm ET on Radio One and Sirius Satellite Radio (3 pm AT and PT, 3:30 in Newfoundland, 1 pm CT, noon MT.) Senior skater and international competitor Maxime-Billy Fortin, of Stoneham, Qué., will be live on the show. The 21-year-old skater, who trains in Newmarket, Ont., was 14th at this year’s national championships in Vancouver last month.

Live from Quebec City, co-hosts Shelagh Rogers of Sounds Like Canada and Claude Saucier of Espace Musique will be on the ice broadcasting from the PEPS arena along with the musicians of Le Kiosque à Musique who will perform classical, Quebec, and Canadiana-style music.

Acadian music of La Virée will be featured in Cap-Pelé and Patrick Wedd will play hockey tunes on the organ from Calgary.
