Cheer for skaters in the Hbc Run for Canada event

A group of skaters are participating in this year’s Hbc Run for Canada held in various cities across the country on

Canada Day. Everyone is invited to register and get involved either by running, walking or volunteering.
Several past and current skaters will participate in this year’s event:

Gary Beacom, 1984 Olympian and 1983 and 1984 Canadian silver medallist, will run the 10K in Victoria

Elizabeth Coret and John McKilligan, 1968 Olympians and 1967 and 1968 Canadian Pairs champions, will walk the 3K in Vancouver

Megan Wing and Aaron Lowe, 2006 Olympians and triple Canadian ice dance silver medallists, will run the 10K in Vancouver

Christopher Mabee, 2007 Canadian silver medallist, will run the 10K in Toronto

Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir, 2007 Canadian ice dance silver medallists, will run the 10K in Toronto

Shawn Sawyer, 2006 Olympian and fourth in Canada in 2007, will run the 1K with kids in Montreal
The 2007 HBC Run for Canada will take place in thirteen different locations on July 1 and feature many 2010 Olympic medallist hopefuls, as well as past Winter and Summer Olympians such as Olympic champions Simon Whitfield (triathlon), Cindy Klassen (speed skating) and Clara Hughes (speed skating).
In 2006, the Hbc Run for Canada raised over $1.5 million. Two hundred athletes from coast to coast in a range of disciplines will receive a $5,000 bursary from the funds raised through this event.
