Annie Bellemare, a five-time Canadian medallist, has retired from eligible skating. Annie, 25, a native of Laval, Que., who is now living in Vancouver, won a total of two silver and three bronze medals at the national championships. At her most recent trip to the Canadian Championships (2004), Annie finished fourth. An injury sidelined Annie from competing last season. Throughout her time on the national team, Annie was very involved in Skate Canada national youth camps, often assisting in on-ice activities. She also served as an athlete representative on the Skate Canada Athletes Development Advisory Council. Annie is currently working towards a certificate in public relations and hopes to get involved in the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver.
Skate Canada wishes Annie the best of luck in her future endeavours.
