Canadian pair skaters had an exceptional weekend at the North American Challenge in Kansas City, KS.
In the Junior Pair event Stephanie Valois, 18, of St-Jérome, Que., and Jonathan Boudreau-Beland, 21, of Ste-Agathe, Que., took the silver medal with teammates Emilie Demers-Boutin and Pierre-Philippe Joncas winning the bronze. It was the first international event for Demers-Boutin, 14, of Ste-Sabine, Que., and Joncas, 20, of Murdochville, Que.
In the Novice pair event Canadians swept the medal podium with Canadian competitors taking the first four spots in the event.
Jennifer Thibodeau, 13, and Mark Fernandez, 17, both of Montreal, took gold, Christi Anne Steele, 13, and Adam Johnson, 16, both of Chatham, Ont. took the silver and bronze went to Steza Foo, 13, of Montreal, and David Struthers, 17, of Nepean, Ont. Carolyn MacCuish, 12, and Andrew Evans, 17, both of Burlington, Ont., finished in fourth place. Full results can be found at USfigureskating.org.
