The Copenhagen Trophy was quite an event for Canadian skaters.

Canadian skaters brought home two medals from the development event, which took place March 11-13 in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Capturing the gold medal in the Novice Ladies event was Erika Tisluck. The 14-year-old from Candiac, Que., who was crowned the Canadian Novice Women’s Champion at the 2005 BMO Financial Group Skate Canada Junior Nationals, skated two strong programs to place first in both portions of the event – the short program and the free skate – to finish first overall.

Tisluck’s teammate, 14-year-old Natalie Kwong, moved up from 13th place after the short program to skate a fantastic free skate that placed her second in that portion of the event and fifth overall. Kwong, of Richmond Hill, Ont., was the bronze medallist in the Novice Women’s event at the 2005 BMO Financial Group Skate Canada Junior Nationals.

In the Novice Men’s event, Patrick Wong, 15, of Port Coquitlam, B.C., moved up from second in the short program to place first in the free skate, which earned him the gold medal. Wong, who placed fourth in the Novice Men’s event at the 2005 BMO Financial Group Skate Canada Junior Nationals, skated two impressive programs in Copenhagen.

Skate Canada congratulates its athletes for their outstanding achievements in Denmark!
