Some familiar faces and former Canadian Champions will be participating as special guests in the 2004 Skate Canada Annual Convention and General Meeting (ACGM) in Calgary.

Elvis Stojko, Jennifer Robinson, Tracy Wilson and Shae-Lynn Bourne will all play a role in this year’s ACGM, which will be held June 3-5. From guest speaking to on-ice instruction to co-hosting an awards gala, each of them will take part in the weekend’s activities.

Stojko, a seven-time Canadian Men’s Champion, three-time World Champion and two-time Olympic silver medallist, will be the guest speaker at a special luncheon on June 4. Those attending the luncheon will be able to hear Stojko speak about his skating career, and they will also have the chance to get his autograph at the autograph session following the lunch.

Robinson, who recently announced her retirement from competitive skating, will be the co-host at the 2004 Skate Canada Achievement Awards Gala, which is also being held on June 4. This is the second year in a row that the six-time Canadian Ladies Champion will be co-hosting the event. Robinson will be joined by the members of the 2004-2005 Skate Canada National Team, who will be presenting the awards, as well as her co-host, Skate Canada Athlete Development Director, Bill Bridel. The evening’s special guest performer will be last season’s Canadian Idol top-three finalist Billy Klippert.

Both Wilson and Bourne, along with Bourne’s coach Nikolai Morozov, are conducting a coaching seminar, Professionally Speaking on-Ice: World class skating with Tracy Wilson, Nikolai Morozov and Shae-Lynn Bourne, on June 3 at the Glencoe Club. At the seminar, Wilson, Bourne and Morozov will discuss their methods for teaching exceptional skating skills for all skaters, as well as methods for developing world-class dance technique.

Wilson will also be in attendance at the ACGM’s opening reception at the Spruce Meadows equestrian park, where she will tell the story of the 1988 Olympic figure skating team.
