Chatham crowd Shae-Lynn at the podium

It was a day that Shae-Lynn Bourne won't soon forget.

Bourne, who, with partner Victor Kraatz, recently won the gold medal in the Dance event at the 2003 World Figure Skating Championships, was welcomed home to her hometown of Chatham, Ont. on May 1 with a parade celebrating her and Kraatz's great accomplishment.

As the guest of honour, Bourne was thrilled by the gesture.

The parade made its way down a number of Chatham's main streets and finished at Chatham's Civic Centre, where a presentation was made recognizing Bourne and Kraatz's many achievements.

Bourne was able to share her medal with her family and friends for a few days, as she was in Chatham before joining the Champions on Ice tour, which made a stop in Detroit, Michigan on May 2.

Bourne and Kraatz will be touring with Champions on Ice until the end of the tour in June.
